Discrimination Question

Here's an application question that I answered.  I really like my answer because I used my brain to sound smart.  This is my third draft of the answer though.  The first one, I emailed Rhea about it.  She said to use work experiences.  I decided not to because qualifications include education.  So, I used my education and life experiences instead.  I was happy with my second answer.  I was going to use it.  However, the website timed out on me because I was distracted watching YouTube and lost my answer.  So, I just wrote my third answer.  I was having trouble keeping it under 1,000 characters both times.  I kept on wanting to go over the limit.  I think that my third draft is the best because it has specific examples.

As an Equal Opportunity Employer with a diverse staff and student population, please share how your qualifications prepare you to work in a campus environment with faculty, staff and students from cultures and backgrounds different than your own.

At Spokane Community College, I took an intercultural communication class. I learned that different cultures desire and strive for different values. For example, Americans value individualism while the Japanese value collectivism. When different cultures come together, their values can be diametrically opposed from one another. With many workplaces, management wants their employees to assimilate into the dominant culture. They treat everybody the same according to what they value. That will mean management will discriminate because some people will come from subcultures that have different values which they base their daily decisions on. For example, a business could discriminate against a hijab wearing Muslim woman. There needs to be room for people to express their values in the workplace without being discriminated against. I have learned it's really hard for people not to discriminate because they do it implicitly. Plus, I have been subjected to it many times in my life.

I really want to talk about my experience with the Spokane Community College nursing program openly. I really want to pretty much expose the discrimination that I received while I was there. However, I want to keep a lid on it for now because I just complained to OCR and the HR department about it. It was a really awful experience though. I learned that while I was in the program, nursing students only had to keep the program in a positive light when they use social media. I thought that was a bunch of crap if they see problems within the program. I am starting to think that that nursing program had really conservative ideals. That doesn't work for me because I am very liberal. I don't think I am an extreme liberal like the Young Turks though, but I agree with the progressive movement. Anyways, I think that I will publish of what happened when the investigation is over. I just want to pretty much fight against what happened to me by exposing the people who discriminated against me. The first time that happened to me, I didn't blame the teachers, I blamed the disability department. Now, I blame the teachers. I don't know if I blame the disability department because it seemed like they didn't have any power of enforcement. Anyways, April was really hard for me because no one in power was standing up for me. I had to defend myself as much as possible. It ended up that my teachers plowed over me anyways even though I knew what exactly was happening. If I had the money, I would talk to a lawyer about it too. However, I don't think it's worth to fight that much because Voc Rehab paid for it. Plus, I was able to protect my transcript.

Now, I am back to square one trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. It just stinks because I feel that this won't be the last time of discrimination either. I would much rather be not part of a minority group. I wish I could just be a chameleon and fit in. However, my disabilities really prevent me from doing that. With some situations, I tend to get burned out if I try to fit in. I have three disorders which really put me on the margins. The only thing that I have going for me is my intellect. I would much rather be smart and have a hard stance on ethics instead of trying to fit in. I still stand up for scientific truth. That's why I had a hard time in the nursing program. It wasn't standing on science. Nursing likes alternative medicine which I hate. There are so many gates within health care too. So, I just want to go sideways instead to see if I can still use my education without me starting into a field which I really have no education.

Ron Schlerf and Ocular Melanoma

I just looked at my blog.  Over these years, I have had over 18,000 views on my blog.  That is quite a lot.  It's mainly from the United States and Russia.  That makes sense because of Sensei Chinen's dealings with the Russian people.

Today, I went to the funeral of Ron Schlerf.  It was a really good funeral.  The speakers kept me entertained while I was cross stitching.  They had the opening hymn, middle song, and closing hymn done the family.  The singers were really good.  It was better than usual what I hear during church.  It was quite weird though when I kept on hearing sniffling from multiple people.  It makes sense because it was a funeral.  There was real emotion from his kids too who spoke.  They were pretty raw.  His daughter said that Ron didn't regret trying to get rid of the cancer, even though it made him sick.  His children said that he really love cars.  I remember seeing a corvette on stilts in their garage when I went to their house for FHE.  Jan his wife didn't speak at all.  I hugged her afterwards.  She seemed to be doing well.  Afterwards, we saw family friends from the old 10th ward including the Spears.

So, I learned during the funeral that he died of Ocular Melanoma which metastasized to his liver.  I looked the cancer up on the internet.  It is pretty rare where 2,000 people get diagnosed with it each year in the US.  It occurs in men more than women.  About half of the cases metastasize.  When the cancer does that, the patient are given palliative chemotherapy.  So, I guess he had the cancer two years ago.  Probably, he fixed it with surgery and radiation.  However, it spread.  My sources said that taking the eye out won't really help with the mortality rate.  So, it makes sense that he died.  I just hope that I never get cancer.  If I do, I want cancer which is easy to treat and has a very good prognosis.

100 Percent

Wow!!  I haven't posted since 2014!!!  Yikes, I haven't been writing lately.  So, I am going to focus on the good things which happened to me now.  I got a 100 percent on my test for medical terminology.  Today, I looked and applied to quite a few jobs.  I just hope I will get some interviews out of them.  I need a job now.  All of my money is dwindling down because I haven't had a job.  Now, since I am in college, I am no longer eligible for food stamps.  Ya, that puts pressure on me.  I just want to get out of here and get a real job which I like.  However, that is why I am going back to college so I can get a job and have my student loans forgiven.  Actually, this didn't take that much to write down which I like.  Usually, I write a whole bunch of novels which take forever.  Usually, I don't have time to do that.  If I do have time, I just spend it all.  Well, tomorrow I am definitely doing homework.  I hate homework though.  It was just nice working because I didn't have to worry about the stuff I had to do when I got home.  School is such a pain because it's a endless series of things to do.  At least I have 100 percents in both of my classes which has never happened to me before.  They are just medical terminology and interpersonal communication.  It's funny that if my classmates at Parker University were tested over the same thing in medical terminology, they would get 100 percent too on these tests.  It's really nice that Erin, the teacher, goes every single question before the test.  Thus, it makes it really easy.  At Parker University, we had to guess what they were going to test us on.  With some classes though, we did have old tests to look at which made it a lot easier.  I passed my diversified class because of the final which I got to look at.

The right decision. :)

Wow.  I just read some of my old entries.  I found out that half my body has been tingling for two years.  Plus, the inside of my cheeks have been bothering for two years too.  However, the weakness on one side and the cheeks has only happened during the summer.  My Dad always attributed to stress.  However, I knew it wasn't.  I am right because my body is fighting again.  I am not in school or stressed.

So, I have been volunteering at a local hospital in Spokane.  I will not say the name because I want still want to volunteer there.  I love working there because I can pretty much do whatever I want that's in the duties of an ER volunteer.  It took forever for me to start working there because of work.  For almost a year, I didn't really look at any of my textbooks from chiropractic school.  It was really painful for me to leave Parker.  I thought I destroyed my life.  I was questioning if I actually made the right decision.  Now, I am pretty sure that I made the right choice.  I am actually seeing that I am becoming more right than wrong.  In my last post, I had really good questions.  No one answered them when I was at chiropractic school.  I think I was the only one who actually noticed the fighting especially on tests.  It has made me question if people actually forget what they learned in our schooling.  There were so many smart people at Parker.  However, I was pretty much the only one who actually wanted to become an MD because of what I learned at Parker.

Chiropractic

Here's a link which I agree with which is about Chiropractic.  Right now, pretty much on the fence with this profession.  It's a total mess with everyone fighting with each other.  I think I would like to be a MD instead.  If I switch, it's going to be a long and hard road because I will still have to take a whole bunch of classes and jump through a whole bunch of loops.  However, I think that I'd be happier because I'd be following my heart.  I just don't want to spend 16,000 dollars per trimester in something that I am really becoming unhappy with.  It totally sucks because I am already under 100,000 dollars in debt with school.  I hate money.  I have realized it's pretty much something that grants access to things people need and want.  I hope that I am making the right decision.  MD make a whole bunch more money than Chiropractors.  However, it's really hard to get accepted in those type of programs.

I am getting really frustrated because my body has been really fighting hard against me this trimester.  I am really trying to work with it; however, I think I need more education to know what's going on with me.  I would love to able to diagnose diseases and treat them.  However, I'd be only limited with certain conditions.  This program has not even taught me how to prevent injuries yet.  That was one of my goals from the beginning.  People in chiropractic think they know about Autism.  However, they really don't because they do not understand it.  They don't recognize that I am really Autistic.  The further I go through this program, the more I realize how Autistic I am.  I love obsessing and reading about a whole bunch of diseases.

I was really blindsided last week.  The ER doctor said I probably have gastritis or an ulcer because I had epigastric pain.  I really, really did not want to go to the ER because it's a whole bunch of money.  The visit cost about 12,000 dollars.  However, this time I have insurance which will help out.  After I got out of the ER, I just cried and cried in my car because I was so frustrated about the whole thing.  If I am going to be a primary care doctor, I need to be able know all the different differential diagnoses.  We have not been taught pretty much anything about those two things in Chiropractic school.  I was thinking Acute Appendicitis because it was in the right area.  I was fighting nausea last Tuesday night and all of Wednesday .  I got really close to throwing up quite a few times, but I knew how to prevent that by not moving around.

Ya, I really want more education because I feel that I cannot treat patients yet.  The only thing that I really know how to do is find subluxations and "adjust".  However, I hate that the things that we are taught won't be paid through insurance.  Insurance and chiropractic philosophy are really at odds with each other.  What really pissed me off the abdominal CT scan picked up a bilateral spondylolysis at L5.  I know that we have to be careful with them.  Cody who is in my class has one.  He says he's always in pain because of it.  However, I have read the amount of slippage doesn't correlate with the amount of pain.  A year and a half ago, I had a kidney stone which sent me to the ER.  I got an abdominal CT scan without contrast.  It picked up the kidney stone.  I know it picked up the spondylolysis too after looking at it with the new knowledge.  I can tell that the spinous process of L5 has moved further away from the body in a year and a half.  It sucks because I would have thought that the radiology department would have picked that up when I got an abdominal X-Ray over in the clinic.

I am wondering why my neck and left shoulder likes to bother me.  It gets flared up when people adjust me.  At least, Mike who is my intern doesn't like to adjust it that much.  My right wrist likes to bother me too.  Last Monday, I had my wrist X-rayed because I was thinking ligament instability.  It didn't know anything abnormal.  However, we still should do dynamic stress images to make sure.  Of course, Mike doesn't know much about instability because we were not taught about it.  I still think that both I have tibial torsion in both of my legs because both my feet don't point where my knees point.  Of course, no one has taught and how to diagnose that condition.

I am questioning the safety of me getting adjusted because of my Autism.  I am really hypermobile in some of my joints.  My hips and my scapulas have abnormal ranges of motion.  My entire spine is pretty much hypermobile too.  If people know how to lock out my joints in my neck, they will go pretty easily.  My thoracics adjust really easily, so people have to go pretty light on them.  My lumbars and hips are so hypermobile that many people have trouble adjusting me in side posture.  Most people torque me where it's really uncomfortable.  I tell them to stop, but most of them don't know how to stop torquing me.  It's probably because they want to take my joints to tension.  However, you cannot do that to me in side posture.  I loved Jarret's side posture because he got really good at it.  A whole bunch of things popped where it felt really good.  Only Dr. Pearce has done that to me recently.

This is why I am questioning everything right now.  Since I am really hypermobile, did I get a Spondy because of people adjusting me??  What is the purpose for adjusting then if I am hypermobile??  Does Spinal Manipulation (Adjusting) hurt people??  Has it hurt my neck and lumbars??  How come I cavitate all the time when moving around when Dr. Marty Hall says that cavitations only happen past that passive range of motion barrier.  Some of my joints, cavitate in the active range of motion.  Dr. Marty Hall says that adjustments cause ligament laxity.  Am I getting adjusted way too much??  I have been getting adjusted twice a week for a year with Jarrett.  Before that, I was getting adjusted by classmates at least once a week.  This really flies in the face of chiropractic philosophy if getting adjusted actually hurts people.  Why do our professors except from Dr. Tom don't allow students to adjust them??  I was taught that getting adjusted will not hurt people what so ever.  Now I am really questioning that because what I am experiencing.  Why do I want to get in a profession if everyone disagrees and fights with one another??  No one can agree on the correct definition of what a subluxation is.  There are chiropractors that say that they can adjust people's emotions too.  Ya, everything is a mess.  This is why I am questioning everything and really confused.  I think I finally found a way.  I just wish that I didn't get screwed over in the process.  Oh well, that is what happened when I found martial arts.  I really got screwed by two people; my first teacher in Karate and my second teacher in BJJ.  I am probably acting the same way that I acted in my first Dojo.  I am trying to find the truth because I love what I do.

What really pissed me off is when my one of my professors went against science with one of his test questions.  The question asked what is a good way to diagnose the thinning of cervical articular cartilage in a patient.  I said X-Ray because we can see the thinning of disks and decreased joint space.  However, he said none including CT Scan and MRI.  I found two studies that said that they can measure the thinning of cartilage in the facet joints.  Dr. Michael Hall did the same thing with eye movements.  However, I didn't mind it because I knew his position.  I ran into the same problem with Dr. Baggett and Dr. Watts test questions last trimester.  Dr. Watts said episiotomies don't work because they are more likely to tear again and normal tears heal better.  Dr. Baggett said that a cut that done in a straight line heals much better than a jagged cut.  I feel that this Triflex stuff which I am learning in Physical Therapy 2 isn't current at all.  It was published by Foot Levelers in the early 1990's.  Foot Levelers is a chiropractic company.  This is why I am questioning everyone because all of my professors are being really inconsistent.  I am was freaking out because I didn't know what to do when I hit clinic.  I wanted to work with MD's saying that I can help patients with back and neck pain.  However, now since Chiropractic is so unregulated, I can see why MD's don't trust us.  Especially when everyone says that vaccines will hurt children and will not prevent disease.  Even the American Chiropractic Association says that they want to encourage public choice, which means that they are taking a neutral stance.  That is really unacceptable.  We say that we have enough education to diagnose conditions and be primary health doctors.  However, I really disagree with that statement right now.

Boards Part 1 Request for Accomodations

My disability affects my daily life the following ways:
It takes me longer to do things.  I don't organize things really well.  I tend to be really slow when I have to pack my bag to go home or when I have to clean and organize my apartment.  I love to obsess about things especially anything science related.  It takes me longer to communicate with people.  I decompress by not being around people.  I am more shy around people because I don't know how to act around them especially in groups.  Thus, why I love to observe when I am in labs in school instead of really actively participating.  My communication disorder is noticeable when I try to talk to people with heavy accents or from a different part of the country.  I don't remember what they said because I am trying to figure out what they are taking about.  Thus, I only get about half of what they are saying.  It is especially noticeable when I try to listen to my college professors who were born from a different country and where English is not their first language.  I love my Natural Reader software which reads everything I highlight on my computer including text in PDF format.  This is really useful because I can read much quicker.  Natural Reader keeps my attention when I read along with it.

My disability affects my education and ability to take standardized WRITTEN examinations in the following ways:
My communication disorder takes me longer to read and comprehend written tests.  I learn by association, so I like to go back and recheck my answers to see if anything else has popped in my memory.  I love being in a quiet room because I am not distracted with people getting up and leaving.

A Birthday and an Easter Card

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to write down what I wrote in two cards today.  I know I should be going to bed and sleeping because I have two finals at 7:00 and 11:00 A.M. today.  However, I wanted to write down what I wrote before I sent these cards off in the mail.

The first one is a birthday card to Frank Ritenour.  He is a veteran who turned 100 years old on the third.  One of my friends in Utah invited me to a Facebook page saying that he wanted birthday cards from all 50 states.  So, I decided to buy him a birthday card.   The actual birthday card reads, "Statistics show that 98 percent of all Americans are guaranteed to 'Get a Little' every birthday!!!"  On the inside it reads, "... a little older, a little grayer, a little slower, a little heavier, a little more tired...  Anyway, Happy Birthday."  I wrote, "Dear Frank, Happy Belated Birthday!!!  You are the first person that I actually bought and sent a birthday card to in my life.  I am 26 years old.  You must be doing something right to be 100 years old!!!  Well, you got a card from Texas.  However, I am a native from Washington and Montana.  Sorry that the card isn't Texan!!  Thanks for serving our country!!  I hope that you will keep this card for years to come.  May you live well and prosper!!! Love, Lizzie."

The other card is an Easter card to my parents.  I bought this card a day before Easter.  I had practicals all last week, so I didn't get to send it out until today.  The front of the card reads, "OK, you may hear a crack..."  It's a chiropractor palpating an egg who is prone on a table.  The egg looks really worried.  The inside reads, "Hope your Easter is everything it's cracked up to be!!"  I wrote "Dear Mom and Dad, I know that I will see you this Saturday.  I know that this Easter has passed.  However, I still wanted to send this to you because I never send anything.  Plus, It's a chiropractic Easter card!!!  Happy Easter!!  I am writing this on the eve of finals week!  Wish me luck!!  I am totally excited to see my family again.  Thanks for being such a huge support for me while going through school.  My neuroscience professor would be really happy that I wrote and sent you a card!!!  Love, Lizzie (Wiffer J. Biffer)."

My Clinical Neuroscience professor said it's better for us to write out cards and sent it to people instead of just emailing them.  They can see that we've actually put thoughts behind our words.  I think it's both just like what the brethren say in General Conference.  Sometimes, we use technology too much  where we stop communicating to each other.  For me, technology is a must for me to understand other people.  My computer reads to me all the time.  I love it because I can understand and read much faster otherwise.  Goodnight!!

2.  Please describe any volunteer or community service projects in which you participated.
During my last semester at Brigham Young University, which was winter 2011, I volunteered 10 hours at Hoofbeats to Healing located in Spanish Fork, UT at that time.  I helped around the barn and worked to take care of the horses.  In October 2011, I was a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints which lasted for seven weeks.  I helped people which needed our help by doing lawn work and cleaning houses.  I also proselyied with another missionary for the full seven weeks.

3.  Please describe any extracurricular activities you have been involved with.
I was the Information Systems Representative for my class during my second Trimester at Parker University.  I also was a member of the Philosophy club during my first and second trimester at Parker University.  At Brigham Young University, I was a member of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Club for about two years.  At Spokane Community College, I was a member of the Shut Up and Sign club for two quarters and SCC Players for a quarter.

4.  Why have you chosen to apply to University of Western States?*
First, it eight hours away from Spokane, WA which is home for me.  Secondly, I know that Western States has a completely different philosophy from Parker University.  I want to become a doctor who specializes in chiropractic.  I believe that at Western States, I can achieve that goal better at Parker University.

5.  Please write any additional information you would like the Admissions Committee to know when considering your application.
With this question, I didn't answer because I don't have to and cannot think of anything that they need to know.

6.  Why have you chosen a career as a chiropractic physician?*
I want a healthcare career that I can work with my hands.  I like how I can restore the range of motion to a joint where it was restricted beforehand.   B.J. Palmer said, "Life is motion, motion is life. Lack of motion is death."  I believe that if one has free unrestricted motion in all one's movable joints in the body, some aspect of one's life will improve.  It is hard to pin point what will heal in a person because of all the variables.  I know that chiropractors can catch pathology through proper diagnostic testing such as the use of radiographs.  I know that chiropractors can really help with the management of back and neck pain.  I want to heal and help people achieve optimal health.

7.  What specific experiences have you had with chiropractic health care?*
I first started getting adjusted by a chiropractor when I was going to Spokane Community College.  He is a chiropractor who practices with Applied Kinesiology.  He is a vitalistic who believes that he can find subluxations through surrogate testing himself.  I was really impressed because I thought that he improved my balance.  When I went to Brigham Young University, I met a Parker graduate who took me to a Parker Seminar in Las Vegas, Nevada.  I was really impressed with the seminar because of all different classes one can take, the amount of chiropractors under a single roof, and the amount different companies which wanted to sell chiropractors their products.  I was exposed to more of the vitalistic philosophy and different adjusting techniques and styles.  I met and felt really comfortable with Dr. Mancini who is the president of Parker University.  Thus, I went and am studying at Parker University to become a chiropractor.

Along my journey, I have become unhappy with the vitalistic philosophy in Parker University.  I don't believe that the body has the power to heal anything and everything under the sun just by getting adjusted.  Last trimester, I took Diversified which focuses on the quality of the motion of each joint in the spine.  I like the philosophy where we have dynamic listings instead of focusing on static listings and "bone home" type of techniques.  When getting personally adjusted, I liked getting "popped" and where I can feel the bones move.  I know other techniques like activator can help too, but I prefer diversified.

8.  What type of practice do you envision for the future?* (i.e. multi disciplinary clinic, independent, overseas, sports, pediatric, ethnic community, etc.)
The main areas that I want to focus on are sports, pediatric, and neurology.  The type of sports that I want to focus on are skiing and martial arts.  Since I am a woman and will have kids one day, I figured that I should learn how to adjust babies, kids, and teenagers.  I am planning on getting a diplomate in chiropractic neurology through the Carrick Institute when I graduate from chiropractic college.

Canola Oil

I think that I am slightly allergic to canola oil because I am pretty sure that I slightly reacted to Cape Cod Kettle Cooked Potato Chips.  The only ingredients in the chips are potatoes, canola oil, and salt.  I ate the whole bag too today.  The bag of chips had 1120 calories.  That is why I don't buy potato chips and breads that much because I have been known to eat the whole bag.  Canola oil is mainly made from rapeseed.  This would make sense why I reacted to some Earth Balance Organic Buttery Spread a couple times.  I haven't reacted every time I ate it though.  The only things that I suspicious of in the spread is palm fruit, canola, and annatto.  I have been slightly been reacting to cheese too.  It might the the annatto or just the mold that likes to grow on cheese.  However, now I don't think that I am allergic to annatto because I ate Tillamook cheese on my break all the time and didn't react to it.  I am very sure that the cheese had annatto in it.  Ya, I am pretty sure that I am allergic to canola oil because my mouth still feels a little sore.  Ya, this sucks being allergic to everything.  At least, I can have my smoothies.  I know I won't react to those and are really healthy for me.  Plus, I have my white rice that I can rely on.  I just need to get a butter container since butter is safe for me too.  I need to go.  I have a neuroscience test to take tomorrow.  I need to make my smoothie and get ready for bed.  I should be in bed by 11:30 PM so I can have six hours of sleep.  It's 11:05 PM right now.  Night.

Painful Lumps

So, I reacted to Wheat Thins Toasted Chips last night and a little bit today.  I looked at all the ingredients to see what I could be allergic to; I found only rye, tritcale (a cross between rye and wheat), and barley.  All the rest of the ingredients, I am pretty sure that they don't bother me.  I  Maybe because of one of these grains, I reacted to some bread that I ate at my parent's during the break.  I am happy that I finally got something that I reacted to with so few ingredients.  Most of the foods that I react to has a whole bunch of ingredients which I haven't singled out.

Since Tuesday, I have had a sore on my palate.  Another one developed on gum right behind my right, furthest posterior molar a little later during the this week.  The first one might have started from sucking on too many Lifesaver Wint-O-Green Mints.  My mouth tends to get sore when I suck too much hard candy.  However, I have no idea why I developed another one behind my molar.  Usually, I am just kind of sore for a few days.  It's been more than a few days now.  I am coming close to a week.  I know that I sound like a pansy right now.  It's been really annoying though.  I can't eat anything that hard because it hurts my mouth.  The one one my palate is on my left side right next to the second molar counting from the front.  I think that I normally eat on my left side too because I have to consciously push things to my right side.  All I know that these things are getting annoying.  I want them healed so I won't have to keep feeling them when I eat.  These sores could be allergy related too.

My armpits are hurting me too.  Since a teenager, I have developed lumps in my axillae.  I think that my GP at that time said it was only a lymph node.  I have noticed that I get them less if I shaved every two week instead of once a week.  Both axillae have developed lumps this week.  I shaved them last Sunday.  They are also annoying when I have these lumps because they can get pretty big and painful.  Pretty much for four hours, I was researching and got distracted into searching about painful lumps.  Whenever it involves YouTube, I can get distracted for hours upon hours.  I watched Embarrassing Body which involved common conditions and then got into the TV shows that featured the really rare disorders.  When I came out of that, I discovered that it's four AM in the morning.  So, I searched a little more and discovered that Staphylococcus aureus can be carried in the axilla.  I already know that it likes to live in my nose.  Ya, I think these lumps are abscesses instead of swollen lymph nodes because I noticed that they appear less when I shave less.  I would like to try an electric shaver then.  I think that they are abscess because their characteristics remind of me the abscess that I got on my behind.  I have a tendency to get ingrown hairs since my hair is curly too.

Allergies

I went to the allergist on Tuesday. I am allergic to cat pelt and hair. I am really allergic to dog dander. This really sucks because I was planning on having dogs and cats when I get older. I might to have outside dogs and cats. If I do that, I need a good open space like the farm house out in Three Forks. I am not allergic to horses, gerbils, hamsters, rabbits, or feathers. I might get some little pets for inside the house. I don't know. It's a good thing that I switched from becoming a vet to a chiropractor because I don't want to me around things which my body doesn't like. It really sucks though.

I am allergic to a mold called hormodendrum. This means that I really need to clean the bathroom because I have some mold growing in there. It's because I don't clean that often and there isn't a fan where the shower sits. I am also allergic to a grass and tree mix. So, this makes sense why I have a sports induced asthma. It also might be why I have to breathe more heavily when exercising. People has always said to run where you can still talk. However, I've always couldn't do that. In my second trimester, I learned that I have a large lung capacity someone my age and height. That could be from playing the clarinet and singing when I was younger.

Now, I found out that I am allergic to codfish, crab, pecans, almonds, Brazil nuts, chicken, green peas, tomatoes, cantaloupe, watermelon, cherry, peach, celery, and sunflower seeds/oil. I am very sure that I am allergic to ginger too. Probably I am allergic to other things too. At least I got the basics out of the way. Now, I can work out the others by slowly reintroducing me to things. Tomatoes, peaches, chicken, and celery will be hard to avoid because they are in a whole bunch of processed foods. I now have a really good reason to cook for myself. I want a rice cooker so I can make myself some good sticky rice. I miss my Dad's good Japanese rice. Minute rice isn't really cutting it for me. I am also going to find out if I have a gluten intolerance through a blood test.

They tested me with all of these different substances by putting them on a white plastic applicator with eight spots where the substances can be applied. Then, the nurse rocked the applicator laterally and medially on both deltoids. She rocked four applicators on each deltoid. Some reactions had only wheals, others had wheals with pseudopods. The four that had pseudopods were bigger than the other ones except for the histamine. The reactions looked like mosquito bites and itched. These foods might be the reasons for my migraines and foods getting stuck in my throat. The allergist said if food still gets stuck after a month of avoiding these foods, he will refer me to another doctor because I might have esophillic esophagitis.

My Body Likes to Make Life Hard

So, I'm tired and have swollen cheeks. I think that one of the antibiotics is making drowsy because I napped for five hours today. I am still tired and somewhat lightheaded and tingly. My body doesn't like me. My doctor diagnosed me with cellulitis that turned into an abscess near my anus this morning. So, I skipped school to get that taken care of. At least the doctor didn't have to lance and pack it. Now, I am a little nervous because I haven't studied yet for my public health test which is tomorrow. Ugg. School is hard and likes to stress me out. Plus, it really sucks when one's body likes to play games and screw around.

So, I made Asian Turkey Burgers last night. When I ate a little of it last night, everything was OK. When I ate two of the patties tonight, my cheeks swelled up pretty good. I might be allergic to garlic or gluten free bread crumbs. I really doubt that I am allergic to the turkey, the ginger, or the soy sauce. I just want to get to the bottom of this because reacting to food that I cook really sucks. At least, I am losing weight. I lost 10 pounds since I have been cooking for myself. Probably, it's because I am eating much less because I don't have that much to eat. Last week, I slightly reacted to the meatloaf and the Sweet and Sour Chicken. I didn't like the Teriyaki Beef, so I didn't have that much to eat. So, I have been going hungry much more often.

The other things that I cooked last night were Amish Breakfast Casserole and Parmesan Chicken. I haven't ate the chicken yet. I think that I am safe with that one. I am pretty sure that I am safe with the Casserole because I ate some last night with no reactions. At least, McDonald's shakes are really good. I know that I don't react to any of those. :) Ya, screw the gluten free diet. I am still going to eat healthy though and avoid things because I like losing weight. I haven't lost weight in a few years. This is the first without counting calories too.

Feeling Fuzzy :(

I have no idea what the heck is going on with me right now. I skipped school and pretty much slept all day. Right now, my whole body is tingling all over. It's a very annoying feeling. It's at it's strongest because I feel it in my head, right side of my neck, my groin, and my thighs. The medical term is paresthesia. However, this tingling is different from when my fingers or my foot fall asleep. That's localized and more sharp. This tingling is more widespread and somewhat dull. Am I experiencing a migraine postdrome because I had one that sent to me to bed last night?? I have no idea. That migraine came on quickly. All of the pain didn't go away after I took an Excedrin. I might be experiencing a prodrome too. I feel worse when I get up and walk around too. I felt fuzzy like this last week too for a morning.

Yesterday, my right cheek reacted with some cheese pizza. I might be allergic to tomatoes. I haven't been reacting to Hunt's Ketchup though. Yesterday, I drank 500 ML of bicarb. Good thing that my classmates helped me down it by egging me on because it tasted pretty nasty. Right afterward, my stomach hurt and felt like I was going to throw up. Luckily, that feeling didn't last long. During lab, I learned that it just neutralized my stomach acid and made my urine more basic.

I just hope that I don't feel like this tomorrow. I have a diversified lecture test in the morning and an ESAT final practical after lunch. I don't want to feel fuzzy like this because it's really annoying. I need to go to bed because I need to cram for my lecture test and practical tomorrow. If this won't go away, I'll see a doctor here instead of waiting until I get home in less than an month.

Note: I am still referring it to be Wednesday night because I haven't gone to bed yet.

Cooking and Leg Amputations

So, tonight I made Lipton Souperior Meat Loaf, Easy Sweet and Sour Chicken, and Teriyaki Steak and Brown Rice Dinner. I liked the Meat Loaf. I think that I didn't cook the rice long enough because I didn't have enough water with the chicken. I forgot the red pepper and haven't tried it yet with the steak. I would have cooked one more thing tonight, but it's late and need to go to bed early. I need to get up and study DXI because I have a test tomorrow morning which I haven't really studied for yet.

Anyways, I just wanted to write a little about what I found out about my blog. I was looking to see why people still visit my blog. It turns out that a whole bunch of people visit two posts, both are two videos about Sensei Chinen. It's been a long time since I have train there. People are still looking him up on the internet. My post for the new video about him is number second and the old video is number eight on Google. When I was making sure what I was seeing was true, I went on Internet Explorer and looked up his name. I found this picture on this website:

It's true that his leg was amputated. It figures since he has diabetes. My grandfather had his leg amputated a couple years before he died. I guess Sensei had it coming to him. I cannot believe that he still teaches at Spokane Community College. He was a good lesson for me. Don't trust every professor that teaches at a college or university. That's why I don't trust everything what my professors say at Parker University. I really hope that people will start looking at my blog for something else other than Sensei Teuro Chinen.

I just want to comment on the new video really quickly. Karate isn't about self defense or a practical exercise. What you learn in karate will get you killed. I talked to one of my professors here in Parker about this. It's more for body awareness and training brain and body to become as one. Actually, some of them were very aggressive when I trained there. Most of them had really big ego including Sensei Chinen. I've been looking for "Forty Years of Chamber" on the internet, but haven't found it any where. One thing I liked what Sensei Amy (I think her name is Amy, I forget) was that she gained strength from her training when things become hard. I have gained courage from BJJ because I have felt a whole bunch of pain because of it. Thus, I am more brave when it comes to things that cause me physical pain.

One more thing, I am allergic to Banana Chips. I forgot and bought two packs from Whole Foods. They were pretty good though. So, I have them to my visiting teachers. I want to make banana bread to see if I'm allergic to that because I'm not allergic to banana baby food. I also should see if I'm allergic to grapes since raisins cause me to react.

Talking to a Dentist

So, I talked to a friend of mine who's a successful dentist. He said that he can prescribe drugs and do major surgery. He thought that not being able to prescribe drugs to for certain patients would be a major pain. He said that some of these people are in pain and normal OTC wouldn't work that much. HMMM. It really depends on what type of practice I want. Right now, I am thinking about adjusting athletes and children. I'm totally going to include adjusting the extremities. My dentist friend said that X-Rays was a good way to cover one's self. I agree because there can be anomalies and things that I would want to know about before I start adjusting. I am thinking about using X-Rays in my practice for a good fair amount of my patients. If I do that, that means I really need to get good at looking at X-Rays. I would love a digital X-Ray instead of a normal one. I love technology and want to incorporate that into my practice too. I want to be an all paperless one. I don't want my patients fill out any paper forms. I want them do it all on computer because that would be so much easier for me.

If I use X-Rays, I am going to get good views because I know some chiropractors use really crappy ones. The ones that I got from Maximized Living were really crappy when I started chiropractic college. My friend said that he has a CT scan in his practice because he does major surgery. I have never knew that dentists use and own that type of scanning equipment. I know that just looking at my CT scan from last November, it's totally different interpreting and knowing what the heck I'm looking at from normal X-Rays.

Another thing that I started thinking about is medication or drugs. I'm still conservative/moderate depending on one's view about it. I'm more moderate than most people in at Parker University about the use of drugs. Today, I took to Excedrin pills instead of one to get rid of my migraine. I get migraines frequently. I still get them at least once a week. Now, they come in the form of tightness and tenderness on my skull, usually on one side. If I don't watch it, it becomes really bad that it pounds especially I get up too fast or bend over. Plus, it can get worse if I read something. Today, it came on all of a sudden before my diversified pratical. I felt somewhat nauseous and sensitive to loud sound, so I took an Excedrin so I could feel better. My dentist friend said that tired muscles in the jaw could be the result of migraines. I thought that was interesting. I am totally going to work with other professionals when I get into my practice. I really want to find out what Bishop Fisk, who is a chiropractor practicing in Spokane, WA, believes. All I know that he uses drops, takes X-rays by an older machine, and uses Pettibon System.

It Gets Better!!!!!

Hi. I just want to say that I cooked today. It took forever though. I cooked Country Chicken Stew which tastes like Turkey Soup, Chicken Ala Can Can, and Egg and Hash Brown Pie. The Chicken Ala Can Can is pretty good for how fast I made it. I replaced the Cream of Celery with Split Pea Soup by Amy's because I knew that I liked it. Plus, I forgot to add another five ounces of chicken. Cooking the bacon, making, and eating fried eggs made me take awhile for me to make the Chicken Stew. Plus, I didn't add the third peeled potato. So, I have it sitting in my refrigerator. I haven't tasted the pie yet. It looks good though. It took 60 minutes to cook it instead of 30. Ya, it has cheese in it. I have decided to get back onto dairy products since I don't like vegan cheese. I tried three kinds. The two that didn't casein where terrible and the one that had casein was tolerable. Plus, I am reacting to fruits and vegetables. Last night, I reacted to Walmart frozen peas.

I have been feeling a little light headed and tingling all over all day today. I was like this on Thursday morning too which sucked. So, I have no idea what's going on with me. I have noticed that my temperature like to be one degree lower than normal. Maybe that's why I get cold easily. I gave up on the Penlac that I have been using for my fungus on my right big and ring toes. My big toe has gotten worse. I just want to take the medicine which s hard on my liver. I don't really care because I know that will take care of the fungus. It cleared a whole bunch of the fungus during my last month at BYU. Ya, I don't mind the idea about taking drugs even though I'm at chiropractic school. At least I'm eating better again. It's so weird that my classmates are very supportive of me trying to change my diet. My roommates at BYU thought I was crazy. It's a very different environmental here.

Cesar Millan inspired me today by saying that, "It gets better". He was taking about getting bullied. He was even bullied a little as a kid. It's going to get better for me when I get out of chiropractic school. Dad says that running a business will be easier that me trying to pass all of my classes. I am really looking forward to that day because school isn't that much fun right now. I know I should enjoy the journey. It's hard though because I really want to do well. So, I stress and work really hard. Then, I get really tired and grumpy. I have push myself some days when I get really tired and still have to go to lab. It really sucks. It's going to get better.

Searches

This time I had really good search entries for my blog: "Did Teruo Chinen have a leg amputated?", Goju vs BJJ, Gekisai bunkai steps, Stupid o chem, and I hate "two and a half men". I think the first one is pretty interesting. I wish that I could write anything on this blog like I did in the past. However, since I'm going to be a Doctor of Chiropractic, I have to be careful. It's just a teacher is making me mad in Tri 3 because she's giving us all of the busy work. She doesn't care that we have other classes to study for. :(

Bunch of Crosses

I love this quote. This is from gospeldoctrine.com. I love reading my scriptures!!!!

"Romans 6:6: Our old man is crucified with him… that henceforth we should not serve sin.

The carnal man must die in order for the spiritual man to flourish. Figuratively speaking, the strait gate of baptism should be surrounded by the remains of millions of crosses. Ideally, at baptism the natural man is killed. However, this process is never easy. The ‘old man’ just doesn’t want to go. He must be dragged, kicking and screaming, to the place of execution. He fights, biting and spitting, to be saved from death. Furthermore, we must be our own executioner. We can’t hire a hit man. We must take the hammer ourselves and drive in the nails ourselves. Putting ‘off the natural man’ (Mosiah 3:19) means crucifying the ‘old man’ so that the “new man” can take his place.

Now Satan can’t stand to see his old men get killed. And so, in desperation, the ‘old man’ argues, “take me with you. We’ll walk the strait and narrow path together. You don’t have to kill me to be a disciple.” But he is lying. Those who take his advice—beginning to walk with the old man instead of crucifying him by the gate—eventually find out that they cannot continue until he is killed. Hence, the gate of baptism is surrounded by old crosses and the path of discipleship is littered with them like a cemetery for old men."

I would do this in my scripture blog, but I feel like that I want to have that still focus on the Book of Mormon. Plus, I'm not commenting on the quotes anyways. I like this quote from Russel M. Nelson.

“Many so-called experts give advice for the body—without thought for the spirit. Anyone who accepts direction contrary to the Word of Wisdom, for example, forsakes a law revealed to bring both physical and spiritual blessings. Some recommendations regarding use of our reproductive organs are based solely—and inadequately—upon physical considerations. Beware of such one-sided views! Paul taught that ‘if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.’ (Rom. 8:13)

“That caution pertains to pornography, which is highly addictive. Scriptural warning is clear: ‘Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.’ (Rom. 6:12) In time, addictions enslave both the body and the spirit. Full repentance from addiction is best accomplished in this life, while we still have a mortal body to help us.

“As children of God, we should not let anything enter the body that might defile it.” (“We Are Children of God,” Ensign, Nov. 1998, 87)

Hamburger Stew (Soup) and Allergy

I made Hamburger Stew tonight. It's really good. I consider this more as a soup though. Everything, wouldn't fit in my 3-quart pot. So, I didn't add the pork and beans and the onion. I didn't add all of the vegetables that it called for either. I made it with organic tomato soup and a mostly organic taco seasoning mix. I got both of the from Whole Foods. It took forever just to make though. Since my pot was full, I had to be careful so it wouldn't overflow. It did anyways when I put a lid on it when it was bubbling. Cutting everything while doing laundry made it take a while too.

Since I didn't add the pork and beans, I ate one of the cans. Ya, my cheeks swelled up again. I thought that was interesting because I put the pork and beans in my hamburger casserole and didn't have any problems. I'm going to put the ingredients so I can keep track of what I could be allergic to. Prepared white beans, water, tomato puree (water, tomato paste), sugar, fight fructose corn syrup, salt, distilled vinegar, pork, backing soda, onion power, natural and artificial flavors, spice, and calcium chloride (a firming agent).

24 Hour Mark??? (Pathology Test)

Chiropractic school is so hard. Today I just cried because I was so tired. Now, I'm sitting on my couch waiting for a friend of mine to come to my house. She wants to do some physiology homework with me so we can do well on the quiz tomorrow. I've been doing physiology this afternoon. I feel that I can cram in the morning and learn better. Right now, I am tired because yesterday I crashed and went to bed at 3:30 PM. I woke up to go to the bathroom a whole bunch of times. Then, got up at 9:30 and studied Pathology all night. They pretty much ask us to to learn everything in one or two days because I am having tests back to back. It really sucks. Plus, Dr. Kays is giving us all of this homework amid everything else. It seems like our professors don't care about us. They just want us to listen to their class. I get mad because we are paying them. I don't have to listen to them, at least some of them anyways. I told Dr. Kays that I don't listen to her. She said it's going to hurt me in the long run if I do that. She doesn't know what she is talking about. I was surprised that she wasn't that accommodating. Rob says that we are in class or in lab for 32 hours a week. This is why I am so tired. I might break my 24 hour record mark today if I stay up until 9:30. I don't know though because bed sounds really good. Ya, school likes to push me to the brink.
